80% of the tour price is going directly to Nizaam’s startup business and Mario’s Community Project.

We have been selling “township” tours for 15 years.  Many of the tours offer little or no financial benefit to the community or guides.
We consider Nizaam to be the best guide in our industry having worked with him for the past 5 years.

Mario and Michelle have been supporting the Heideveld community with little assistance for the past 8 years.

The Backpack & Africa Travel Centre has donated approximately R100 000 to Mario’s Community Project and the Rope Skipping Project in 2009 and has found many donors for team tracksuits, competitions and end of year medal ceremonies and Christmas parties.

The Itinerary:

Depart The Backpack & Africa Travel Centre at 9am to enjoy a 2 hour walking tour around the Bo-Kaap.  This part of the tour will give you an understanding of how Heideveld came about.  You will move onto the District Six Museum to learn how the people of Cape Town were segregated.  Lunch will be enjoyed at Cape Town’s innovative Eastern Bazaar, where you are able to enjoy a delicious lunch from R20.

The afternoon will be spent visiting Mario’s Community Project in Heideveld, a sport and literacy program supporting more than 300 kids..  We are proud to be associated with Mario and Michelle.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR CHOOSING TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
